The Cleveland curse might be broken! Not only have the Cavaliers won the city’s first professional championship in over half a century, but the Cleveland Indians are in first place entering the early days of Summer 2016.
So while LeBron James is kissing trophies, and J.R. Smith is celebrating shirtless, Danny Salazar, and Francisco Lindor are looking to lead the Tribe to the playoffs for only the third time since 2002.
With the Indians on a six-game winning streak, the weather nice, and the entire city of Cleveland in a tremendously good mood, it’s a perfect time to head out to Progressive Field to see the Indians. Here are some of the highlights of June and July.
Monday, July 4 (vs. Detroit Tigers): Not only is celebrating Independence Day at the ballpark as American as anything, but the first 15,000 fans will also receive an Indians batting practice pullover! After the Tribe battle the third place Tigers, fans can stick around for a nice evening of fireworks.
Saturday, July 9 (vs. New York Yankees): As the Indians welcome the Bronx Bombers into town, fans can welcome a new addition to their bobblehead collection. The first 12,500 fans will receive a Yan Gomes bobblehead. Although the catcher has struggled in 2016, he is starting to turn things around, with six hits in his last 16 at bats.
Tuesday, July 26 (vs. Washington Nationals): Interleague play is always fun to watch, but it’s even better when the matchup features a pair of division leaders. The Nationals boast Bryce Harper, one of the league’s most dynamic talents, and currently lead the National League East. Could Cleveland fans get a preview of playoff baseball atmosphere in July?
